Shot types in Doc Martin
In the begining of the clip there is a master shot, this shows who in this scene has authority.Doc Martin is standing up, then the plumber is sitting down and the plumber is kneeling on the floor. This is giving the audience an idea of social standing between the characters. A little bit later the son stands up and at this point he is shown to be showing that he does have authority as he explains something. There is use of the master shot when the sink breaks to show the audience what action is happening within the room. The next shot in the scene is the conversation between the plumbers son and the girl. They have used the over shoulder shot to do this so you can see there reactions as they converse with each other. The next shot is an establishing shot as we follow Doc Martin up the hill with the dog. This shot shows the audience the location in which the scene is based. As the audience we can also tell the location because we can here a seagull telling us that the village is near the seaside. When Doc Martin sees the teacher through the window there is the use of the close up as the camera goes between her and Doc Martin and each time it goes between them it gets closer to each character until it ends on Docs face to show his emotion. This bit in the scene tell the audience that the teacher and doc have met before and it probably didn't go well as neither of them seem particulaly happy to see each other.
